Flax Weaving for both beginners & those already weaving
Tutor: Mere Keating from New Zealand.
“ If you are interested in learning to weave I am available to come and teach you, one on one or in a group, at Sydney NSW Australia.
Anyone can learn to weave. Raranga is a traditional Maori way of weaving. Raranga harakeke is the weaving of flax. I teach the basics of weaving in a safe and warm environment. Weaving provides a time for the self to experience the learning of a traditional art, in a small group. You can learn all the basics of processing and make several pieces over a 1 – 3 days. Its a good way to have time for yourself to chill out. You can learn to make simple items suitable for gifts, or practical items for your home. “
“Ko koe ki tena ko ahau ki tenei kiwa kete”
“You have that handle of the kete,I have this handle of the kete, Let us together uphold the mana of weaving”
